Purpose
BRAKE OUT aims to address the challenges faced by young people with intellectual disabilities (ID) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in accessing education and employment.
Key Goals:
- Raise awareness about the talents and potential of individuals with ID/ASD.
- Develop 21st-century skills, including social skills and mental well-being.
- Advocate for policy changes to support innovative inclusion models.
- Create new opportunities for meaningful roles in society post-education.
- Planned Activities:
- Develop training modules and a train-the-trainer course over three years.
- Implement a pilot program with three phases focused on skill-building.
- Host multiplier events to raise awareness and gain support.
- Expected Outcomes:
- A compilation of best practices for inclusion.
- A social impact assessment model.
- Training modules and plans for program expansion internationally.
- Cross-sectoral networks connecting educators, policymakers, and youth organizations.
- Advocacy results influencing policies to support inclusion.
- Impact: BRAKE OUT seeks to create a more inclusive society where young people with ID/ASD can thrive and fulfill their potential.
